If you did the right things working at McDonald's you did well, anything else didn't cut the mustard. These are the top three McDonald's work lessons I learned as a worker besides being on time, taking an hour lunch break, wearing a McDonald's uniform and if an older woman drops her dentures in a garbage can (help her find them).
Top 3 McDonald's Work Lessons
- If you work hard you can get ahead. Decades ago I went from the fry guy to a manager of the store. I learned that there is opportunities and your efforts can pay off.
- Do your ABC (Always Be Cleaning). They would also say, "If you have time to lean, you have time to clean." Basically if you weren't making food or some other activity, then you should be cleaning. The place needed to be spotless and it was very clean. At my other jobs I took this attitude with me. To me that also meant ABW (Always Be Working) on something. That has helped me do the work at hand and more. And by the way any desk I work at it is clean.
- McDonald's always had something cooking. It wasn't open 24/7, but it was on people's mind. McDonald's commercials showed on TV overnight and jingles played over and over in your head. The same concepts can be applied to your work. Come up with ideas, implement them, and continually be on people's minds in positive ways.
