At coffee shop this morning:
Girl behind counter: (not joking) “has anyone told you that you look like Tony Hawk?”
Me: yes, so much that I sometimes write about it.
Her: haha, here’s your coffee.
Other girl by exit: (leans toward me as I walk out): “you really do look like him”.”
Tony Hawk as a celebrity is not getting recognized as himself, but as a look alike. Will the real Tony Hawk please stand up. Maybe celebrities need to wear name tags. His could say, “My name is Tony Hawk, not Slim Shady”. Maybe if Tony Hawk would carry around a skateboard, then his likelihood of being recognized would go up. And if they still don’t know who he is, then he could get on the skateboard, flip off the counter meanwhile not letting his coffee spill. And the coffee girls at the shop might still say, “Wow, amazing, you must be Tony Hawks stunt double.”
